Author David Rechards on 03-12-2010

Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600MHzRenowned memory module manufacturer Corsair has added a new line of DDR3 RAM in its product list. Known as the Vengeance series, this RAM has been designed for high-performance applications. If you do a lot of overclocking, Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600MHz will be the best choice for you. According to the company, this new series of RAMs are “carefully selected” to boost up overclockability on current and future Intel and AMD platforms.

Corsair Vengeance DDR3 modules are low in voltage (1.5 volts) which means you can enjoy an energy-efficient operation. It has got aluminum heat spreaders for heat dissipation. Corsair claims that the Vengeance series RAMs are exclusively designed for compatibility, affordability and overclocking.

According to Thi La, Vice President of Memory Products at Corsair, “Customers have been asking for outstanding overclocking memory with a lower price tag, and we have been listening”. “I believe that our users will love both the exciting new look and the overclocking results they are able to achieve with our new Vengeance memory”.

Almost all the Vengeance RAMs are built with two-gigabit RAM ICs. The product comes with a limited lifetime warranty and available in seven different kits. There are single sticks, dual- and triple-module kits. The capacity is also varied ranging from 4GB to 16GB.

Why to Choose DDR3 RAM?

Author admin on 22-09-2010

Are you planning to build your own computer and thinking whether to choose DDR2 or DDR3 memory? If this is your question, then you have landed at the right page. Well, for better performance and fast computing experience, we will always recommend you to go for DDR3 memory. There are a number of reasons for this.

Before delving deep into discussion, let’s have a look at what DDR3 SDRAM is. This is the successor of DDR2 SDRAM. As far as benefit is concerned, DDR3 is has got potential to transfer at twice the data rate of DDR2 (I/O at 8× the data rate of the memory cells it contains). This means, this RAM has higher bus rates and higher peak rates than its predecessors. Another useful feature of DDR3 memory is that it consumes lesser power than DDR2. It has 1.5 V supply voltage and performs excellently with the 90 nanometer fabrication technology. On the other hand, DDR2 supplies 1.8 V or 2.5 V. So, you can easily reduce 30% power consumption by using DDR3 RAM.

There are more internal banks in DDR3. DDR2 memory uses 4 internal banks while DDR3 uses 8. This means, it reduces access latency. So, from all aspects like power consumption, performance and speed are concerned, DDR3 is a clear winner. So, if you want to build up a PC with faster performance, go for DDR3 memory.

Can I Boost up My PC’s Speed by Adding More RAM?

Author admin on 19-08-2010

We all love speed, be it a computer or a car. Whether you are using a laptop or a desktop, you certainly want your PC to perform an operation fast. And in this context many ask “Can I boost up my PC’s speed by adding more RAM?” The answer is yes you can, but not in all cases. RAM stands for random access memory and this is used by the computer for caching files and programs to load them in quick time.

More RAM

One thing for sure, if there is higher amount of RAM, you can run more applications at a time. Normally, when we run multiple operations simultaneously, the speed of the computer decreases as it needs more volatile memory. If the amount of RAM is low, the operating system uses the virtual memory which is created from the hard disk. But always it does not help. If you find that the computer is loading programs slowly, it is always recommended to add more RAM.

But the problem is if you just buy a RAM with higher capacity from the market and install it, your problem might not be resolved. It may also happen that the computer will not boot at all. One thing you should remember that to upgrade the RAM, you must go for the one which meets the specifications of your computer. You can consult your computer manufacturer or can get in touch with a computer help provider for tech support in this context. It is also required to know how to install RAM on your computer.
