Intel, the giant chip maker has recently released an edition for Linux based Meego operating system. As announced by Intel tech support officials, it will work on mainstream laptops and desktops with greater efficiency.
This is not a new venture though. Intel Corp. had released the first edition of Meego on March. They had two models; one made for notebooks and the other for Nokia N900 Smartphone processor. After those two variants, Meego has now designed for the entry level desktops powered by advanced Intel Core processors.
According to Intel officials, the bulk of development around the new operating system has solely been focused on smart phones, notebooks and other gadgets like set top box, television etc. In fact, the aim behind Meego is to provide an operating system support for smoother communication between the devices running on Intel chips. Meego will also consolidate an open source landscape which is highly fragmented.
However, the specific release date has not been announced yet. A Meego edition for handset devices has been said to be released by the end of this year. Giant laptop manufacturers like Acer, Asustek Computer have already voiced support for Meego.
